Yogic Practice for Consciousness, Life-long Education for Oneness
by Chanakya Ganguly (for Mahalaya  in India: September 25, 2022)
Today is Mahalaya (Pitru to Devi Paksha 7 days before Durga Puja). Crows are
fed for their Yogic traits: 1/ Wakes up at Bramha Mahurat ~4:25AM 2/ Caws
when it finds food to share 3/ Doesn’t eat after sunset. They’re fed to have more
Peepal and Banyan trees (give out oxygen 24×7), which sprout from the seeds
passed through its intestinal tracts. Hence, reminds us to move from
egocentric consciousness to oneness, for life-long transformation.

Yogic Practice can help transform the demonic instincts to divine ones. The
demons personify the more primitive forces of ego and the inner destructive
forces one faces in one’s journey to Enlightenment. Yoga can put narcissism
in its place with the sword of wisdom to gradually reach the state of Durga
within; a warrior that takes no prisoners, returns to her mountain home,
and the soul comes back home in peace. Subho Mahalaya

Yoga can provide a culture of motivation like Tom Brady’s TB12 lifestyle rules

(Why is yoga better than exercise?)
According to Tom Brady, NFL quaterback, in his TB12 Lifestyle, practices Yoga,
Meditation close to a Vegan die, still playing at the age of 45, focus on “prehab”
instead of “rehab”; so injury prevention is of the utmost importance: keeping
muscles long and soft increases blood and lymph circulation, preventing injury.
When muscles are denser and harder, the majority of heavy lifting is transferred
to bones & joints which causes injury.

Brady endorses pliability training, which is deep-force muscle work combined with
contracting and relaxing the muscles. If your muscles are trained to be loose and
stretched, you are much less likely to suffer an injury upon impact. Many athletes —
especially at the professional level — cannot compete for the full length of their
season because of injury. If athletes are constantly struggling with injuries, how are
they supposed to maintain peak performance? He says, without pliability, it’s not
possible to have a long lasting enduring level of performance.

Yoga can help distinguish between literacy and education for success & enlightenment

US President Calvin Coolidge was inspired by neo-Hegelian philosophy, which has some
Yogic thoughts. It says expediency as a working principle fails. Hope is in perfecting
relationships with the law of service; not so solicitous about what one gets, but what one
gives. Property should be used for larger service. He wrote, “Nothing in the world can
take place of persistence.” Yoga says literacy without the consistency to do the right &
avoid the wrong makes one “an educated derelict” or uneducated. Noted Hindi writer
Premchand said, “To be successful in Life what you need is education, not literacy”.
