Reverend Dreams

Author: Hillol Ray | Posted on: 9th, Aug, 2021

Sheer turns of the fate never made me
The king or guardian of the holy lands-
Rather I was banished from home to America,
To pursue my childhood dream via own hands!
The academic streams made me scream
Under a minus chill of Fargo morning-
But now I laugh aloud at the days gone by,
Swirling in lies, truths, pain and scorning!

Twisted lips and twisted hearts of strangers
Helped me to compose my life’s own rhyme-
And the cockamamie tales of daily grinds
Were born throughout the seasons’ chime!
The kind words and cold winds were half asleep,
When I pursued all avenues to achieve my dream-
But unforgettable and unforgotten skies hovered over me,
And taught me quietly to worship truths and not to scream!

On my adopted land, unregulated sun
Brings unlimited fun and sets to rest-
But loves to rebuke the unpunctual stars,
If or when they don’t glitter at their best!
At nights, when I yawn or sigh with studious eye,
My dreams tend to become too gentle and brown-
And the cute young hares from the heaven come down,
To make me their reverend king and place the crown!!!
