Yogic Practice to introspect on Thanksgiving on civilizational values
by Chanakya Ganguly (for Thanksgiving Day: November 24, 2022)
The current education curriculum has serious gaps as it has no Spiritual Education
which can help fill the vacuum within human beings for awareness, energy and
focus. Technological research alone will not solve this issue; it needs Spiritual
Education to have alignment with purpose in Life to develop focus, character,
concentration, thus raising the quality of all living beings and institutes worldwide.

(Andrew Carnegie: The Rise of America’s Greatest Philanthropist)
Andrew Carnegie turned out to be one of the most successful businessmen in the
US when it was in recession. His father was a weaver in Scotland and lost his job
due to automation. And he had some basic schooling. But yet he created a major
steel business when he came to Pittsburgh, donated money to create numerous
libraries, musical organs, education, stayed with his mother till she passed away.

Andrew Carnegie said, “Controlled attention magnetizes the brain with the nature
of one’s dominating thoughts, aims, and purposes.” He added, to be able to focus
on something for five minutes is a great skill; it aligns one’s search for necessities
with one’s dominant thoughts. Yoga can help tame the mechanical brain for
awareness, and deeper insight, than just repetitive memory, as a foundation for life.
Yogic Practice can help restructure Life and Leadership  like Benjamin Franklin

Benjamin Franklin had these names of virtues with their Precepts: Temperance,
Silence, Order, Resolution, Frugality, Industry, Sincerity, Justice, Moderation,
Cleanliness, Tranquility, Chastity, Humility. Yoga can help manifest these virtues
namely: Integrity, Trust, Passion, Love, Respect, and Endurance to go the distance
and be blessed with Success to live a fulfilled and awakened Life. On the sort of
government, Ben Franklin answered, “A republic, if you can keep it.” Continuous
checks of spiritual levels and their connection with education, economics, employment,
Enlightenment and its association with resilience, curiosity, and creativity can help
keep track of continued well-being, to tackle (un)certainty, confidence, (in)justice.

Secular (mis)education seeks solutions by just passing laws, providing monetary
equivalence, checking age, but none of these provide any guarantee in terms of
increasing the levels of maturity which can reduce issues related to human equality,
relationships, bullying, harassment, domestic violence, gun crimes, addiction. On the
contrary, investing in spiritual education can make one commit to a greater awareness
of body, mind, and emotions. It thus allows one to be concise, and timely; learn to filter and
reduce noise, and irrelevant speech emanating from a silent wholesome state to help sustain
long-term communication and relationships; it can make one be less reactive and more
responsive to express precisely. Yoga can help develop concentration, disciplined living,
spend extended hours alone, with nature, and learn things that interest the self all through
life, from a psychologically safe space without much external disturbances and pressure.
