Panama City Day 2 – transit through lock

Author: Debu Chaudhuri | Posted on: 29th, May, 2019

During the process of creating the Panama Canal, few small islands were formed out of the huge land mass excavation, today those islands are maintaining the eco-system around the canal and the artificial lake. These islands are known as monkey island. We have seen squirrel size monkey during our trip to Panama jungle. Sharing a few short videos of monkey.
Our Panama Canal and jungle tour were by a small boat of 6 people, we saw many large ships crossing 20 miles via the canal and the man-made Gutan lake, just as promised by the guide. Enjoy a quick view of passing ship.

5th May – ‘Cinco de Mayo day’ happens to be the election day of Panama. Our taxi driver and other guide express with disgust against some candidate whose agenda is Trump-like – against immigrant and outsider worker. Actually, he became the winner of the presidential election very next day. Let’s stick to our tour. On our way back to Panama City, he showed us the new bridge of Chinese design. It will be opened soon. Finally, we arrived at new Agua Clara locks visitor center. This lock is new and built by USA and was inaugurated in 2016. We had witnessed a large vessel as it transit through the lock. The entire operation is clearly visible from the observation deck. A video will be posted later.
