Neutrinos

Author: Debu Chaudhuri | Posted on: 23rd, Mar, 2020

It was 1998, Japanese scientists and scientists from all over the world experimentally found fundamental particle neutrinos are not massless, but million times lighter than an electron.

President Clinton’s Political view on science and technology, after the experimental findings – Clinton said “We must help you to ensure that America continues to lead the revolution in science and technology. Growth is a prerequisite for the opportunity, and scientific research is a basic prerequisite for growth. Just yesterday in Japan, physicists announced a discovery that tiny neutrinos have mass. Now, that may not mean much to most Americans, but it may change our most fundamental theories — from the nature of the smallest subatomic particles to how the universe itself works, and indeed how it expands.”

Neutrinos are ghostly particles. Trillions of these particles pass through our bodies every second as our SUN produced them. Neutrinos pass through earth and other planets.  WOW, let catch one and ride on it, we can be everywhere in the universe like the hearsay about Hindu GOD’s interplanetary movement.

Do you believe in ghosts? I would like not to believe in ghosts in the day time, but for some creepy reason belief of ghosts takes over the tag of war during night time. Who does not know that friendly ghost Casper travel through walls and solid objects unhindered? Neutrinos can travels through anything.

During early 1900, Particle physicists could not figure out the conservation of mass/energy in some particle creation processes. That drove scientists to discover these ghostly particles. In 1931 a hypothetical particle is predicted by Wolfgang Pauli, a theoretical physicist. He suggested that this missing energy during radioactive decays might be carried by a massless neutral particle without detection.

Fermi wrote the theory in 1934 on Neutrinos, unifying Pauli’s neutrino, Paul Dirac’s positron and Heisenberg’s neutron/proton model. This guided the future experimental works on Neutrinos.

Capturing this ghostly particle is extremely difficult. However, scientists experimentally found its existence. It was discovered that neutrino always paired with either electron or muon or tau. These three kinds of neutrinos transformed their types. This transformation is named as “Oscillation”. Oscillation is the cause of changing back and forth of a neutrino’s type as it travels through space. Continued research on this subject will bring more knowledge on this subject.

After many years of experiments and research, in 1998 super-Kamiokande detector announces evidence of neutrino with tiny mass. They are electrically neutral and rarely interact with matter.

MY CRAZY IDEA.  I think neutrinos interact with our SOUL, a massless matter which leaves our body after our death. SOUL finds a partner from the trillions of neutrinos. The neutrino is the carrier to return THE SOUL back to GOD. Here is the meeting point of science and theology.

Neutrinos have no electric charge. Unlike electrons, they are not affected by the electromagnetic forces. Neutrinos are affected only by a “weak” sub-atomic force. Why neutrinos are so light? Is it neutrinos are their own antiparticles? We don’t know, Neutrinos get their mass from somewhere other than the Higgs boson. It is still a lingering mystery to the physicists. Nature tends to be economical, could it be the reason nature made a composite particle and anti-particle combo? There are more questions than answers. Continued research on neutrinos along with “missing” or “dark matter” in the universe will bring us close to the GOD.
