Embracing the occasion of 71 years of Indian independence, here’s an article regarding the actual meaning of INDEPENDENCE –
Some known and too many unknown men and women, whom we call freedom fighters, had laid down their lives for this country. The blood, sweat, and minds that contributed towards India’s freedom were not discriminated into that of a Hindu, Muslim, Sikh or Christians. It was of INDIANS’.
“At the stroke of midnight” when our leaders thought we have awoken to live and freedom – were they right? Legally – YES. But over these 71 years, India has become a slave again. A slave to – division based on caste, creed, and religion, communal riots, honor killings etc. Even in their respected motherland, their mothers and daughters are not safe. Certainly, they didn’t dream about this India.
Definitely, India has progressed over these 71 years…. From steam engine trains to bullet trains. From telegrams to smartphones. But did we really progress morally and ethically?
At present 15TH of August has just reduced to a National Holiday for us. Yes, for some people in some places it’s the day of invocation of the highest level of patriotism, but again that patriotic feeling starts fading away from the very next day.
It’s high time we question ourselves – are we really respecting and honoring what thousands of freedom fighters did for us 71 years back? Are we really INDEPENDENT? Or still engulfed in various kinds of shackles?
This Independence Day, let’s take an oath of breakings these barriers, that are created by us and holding our heads high towards freedom and definitely paying tribute to our martyrs by gifting their dream India.
