Be What You Want To Be

Author: Kamal Acharyya | Posted on: 1st, Feb, 2021

You say:
Be what you want to be…
Please tell me:
What can i ‘want’ ‘to be’?

Can i fly like a bird, sing like a cuckoo?
Can i float like cloud, pour like incessant rain?
Can i flow like a river, mingle with the endless ocean?
Can i laugh like a child, love like a mother?

You say:
Be what you want to be…
Please tell me:
What can i ‘want’ ‘to be’?

Can i write poems & songs like Rabindranath Tagore?
Can i make scientific discoveries like Albert Einstein?
Can i climb on the top of Mount Everest like Tensing Norgay?
Can i show magic on the football field like Pele?

You say:
Be what you want to be…
Please tell me:
What can i ‘want’ ‘to be’?

Can i protest against the unjustice-atrocities all around?
Can i remove the discrimination amongst black & white, rich & poor..?
Can i break the shackles of slavery & exploitation everywhere?
Can i know all the unknowns and the real Truth?

You say:
Be what you want to be…
Please tell me:
What can i ‘want’ ‘to be’?

But I am not a bird or a cuckoo, nor cloud or rain ….
Neither I am Tagore or Tensing, nor Pele or Einstein,
*I am what I am* *It’s Me!*
Second son of Rani-Manoranjan,
Created short & black with some brain,
Fulu / Kamal, That’s my name!

So I could ‘want’ only that much along the designed  way,
And do only that much to make me happy at the end of the day!!!
