INHERITANCE

Author: Kamal Acharyya | Posted on: 8th, Jul, 2021

I didn’t come in this world with anything in my hands,
Likewise I shall leave this place with empty hands for sure;
But I shall leave behind what all have been dear to me,
Accept those in inheritance, if you can, whole heartedly!

I’ll leave behind a handful of light of night fire-flies,
With which you can remove the darkness of your mind;
Keep it protected in the safety-locker of your thoughts,
It will show you the right path in your difficult times!

I’ll leave behind gust of fresh air draped in morning dews,
Take deep breaths and clean your lungs, which is overdue;
Keep it safe, who knows, it may vanish tomorrow,
As we are destroying nature without any remorse or sorrow!

I’ll leave behind the pin-drop silence of the desert in twilights,
You can listen only to your inner voice in that calmness;
And you can come to understanding with yourself,
Which you can do only with such profound silence!

I’ll leave behind the deep darkness of moonless nights,
You may get lost in the depth of the blackness;
If you want see and listen to your inner soul,
Take with you  the silence of desert and the lights of fire-flies !

I’ll leave behind my experience of long lasting relationships,
With which I could travel the long journey of my life;
You can also tie the ropes of your different bonds,
Make sure you don’t tie a false knot by mistake any more!

I’ll leave behind all the mirages of my madness,
Which were driving me all throughout my life;
Music, poetry, games, love, relationships and what all,
If you can, get immersed in any one to become crazy by yourself!

I’ll leave behind many chests of my dreams,
Open one by one and see which are empty;
All dreams are free and fill the boxes with your own,
Only those will be your companions for the rest of your life!

These are all my properties, wealth, ornaments and valuables,
Which I’ll leave behind in inheritance for you;
You decide what you want to do with those,
I am leaving empty-handed, finally whenever I go!!
