Dear Debu-da,
If not for Debu-da, “Lapwing’s Song” would not have appeared in this forum. I thank the almighty, and Debu-da for opening a channel that I consciously didn’t for many years. Honest, none of what I write is worth reading. No fiction. No girls chasing boys. No good prevailing over evil. I write against the blasphemies committed against our scriptures by foreign agencies. I correct the facts. I make our scriptures more readable than what other translators proclaim them to be. Some reviewers like Kirkus and Readers Favorite appreciate what I write, some like Portland Reviews don’t. One of my avid readers wrote to me, (she is a celebrity). When I was about to kill my writings, she stopped me. “If you stop writing Dev, how will I or thousands know about our ancient scriptures. Just keep writing ….. “, and I resumed my trade.
Lapwing’s Song is a celebration of the subtle, interplay between man, nature, and the cosmos reflected in everyday life of a normal person. Rig Veda verses inspired the book. The book covers Mandala one through five, covering Agni and Vishnu only. Satapata Bramhana states “In any sacrifice, Agni is the lower half, Vishnu the upper half.” But the sacrifice is not physical. As long as the animal in us rules our judgment, Rig Veda makes no sense but remains an art created many years back.
Every hymn is script-insight; igniting an emotive passion; buried within truth, immortality and light, synthesized into a transformation. Logic restricts mind with a veil; only heart can cross the chasm; inner heart yearns to climb the hill; failed logic breathes calmly. Lapwing sings the hymns of the ancient; his wings span the vast; limbs dance to the rhythm, its accent; claws hold the knowledge of the past. Symbols assist the recall, but can’t express the concise; in an eclipse, the Sun loses to the dark premise. Distinct are two, what appears, what is real; varies the subtle from the causal; power comes from will, action and knowledge; unique is a walk, asleep, a dream. In the finite, how can there be beauty; beauty lasts forever – elicits joy and love; only the infinite in bliss can be so dazzling; no delight in the finite world. Beyond time, space and causation is the world of infinite; here and there it is, the immutable.
