1968 batch B E College

Debabrata (Debu) Chaudhuri 68EE

January 16, 2019

I am enjoying my retired life, no fixed bedtime, no rush to get up in the morning and huge luxury to gaze outside while all my old memories flash through my mind as if I am living in the ‘years gone by’. Beside my childhood memories with school friends, a few fun-filled years at BE College floats randomly.

I left India in 1971 to USA. I am surprised even after so many years have passed with hectic professional life and raising the family, still, college days’ reminiscence comes like a dream. Throughout the last year (2018) I was excited to think that finally, I will meet my old friends, batch mates after so many years during our golden Jubilee event. I have waited for that day, but I had to go to India earlier so I missed the Golden Jubilee.

My friend Loken Roy Chaudhuri worked tirelessly for years to keep us together electronically. Boundless friends gave him all the possible support. Few of them I can spell out as I found their names from emails.

Dipakdipti, Saibal, Biplob Roy, Manoj Kumar Saha Roy

Loken is kind enough to send me the 1968 batch address book and spreadsheet to store at BECAA website. In the digital age hopefully, this will be saved and archived somewhere.

Here are few Snippets from our Golden Jubilee

Biplob Roy wrote:

Had nostalgic moments revisiting my own hostels, clock tower, Oval, trail the way to 7 O’clock class ( mostly missed by me)  with drawing board clutched under arm, the college ghat which has changed its profile.

Manoj Kumar Saha Roy wrote:

The turnout was remarkable and beyond our expectations. There were, of course, some unexpected problems.

Pranab wrote:

Yes,It was truly enjoyable, to say the least.. I missed to meet Prasanta Pyne, our College Right Out. He had arranged a Football match at Barasat College, when I was the Captain.

Sekhar Majumdar wrote:
