Why Destroy Something You Love

Oh, you people out there!
Did you look up at the sky?
Did you see the flaming sun?
Did you see the clouds run?
Did you see the eagles in the mountains?
Did you see a hawk’s flight?
Did you see the storm’s eye?
Or hear the crackling thunder’s might?

If so, why destroy it?
Why claim it as your own?
Why take away its freedom?
Why take away a bird’s courtyard?
Why subject it to boredom?
Why take away its pleasure?
Why hold it captive?
What is your complaint about the great, old sky
Oh, you people out there!
What is your demand?
Why pollute the air we breathe?
Why make us gasp?
Why drain out lives of living beings?
Why buy air that is not yours?
Why take something so precious from us?
Why make us plead for oxygen?
While you breathe in fresh air.

Oh, you people out there!
Why do this, to get all the fame?
Why not be happy with just the amount you gain?
Why make the poor suffer?
Why not stop your cause.

Oh, you people out there!
Why drain out all the life from our beloved Mother Earth?
Why take away her mirth?
What is your problem, O people?
Why cause so much destruction?
Why for your useless benefit, create all this worthless Havok?
What I do not understand, O people,
What is your joy in this?
What is your joy in creating an air that has killed so many people?
What is your joy in creating a havoc for our beloved Earth?
Oh, you people out there!

Why destroy something you love?
