Do You Dream Even Today

Author: Kamal Acharyya | Posted on: 28th, Jun, 2025

Looking at the distant sky through the window of your flat
in a skyscraper so high,
do you still continue to dream
of what all good things we left behind … do we think alike
why all that is serene and beautiful
are slowly leaving us away from reality in the world of dreams?

Do you also dream of that world full of green countryside
of undulating meadows with grazing cattle and their ringing bells,
flocks of snow-white cranes, flying in line against clear blue sky
with patches of clouds, pollution-free air and clear sun rays;
a world full of love, respect and trust,
truthfulness and sincerity in every relation?

Do you also dream of a world without hatred,
injustice, discrimination, strife and shackles of slavery
that scars life; a world without guns, rifles, grandees,
atom bombs, fighter jets, missiles, deadly poisonous gas
and manmade viruses; a world without fights amongst
religions and politics in the name of God?

That world of dreams might be an illusion, but still hope persists –
it will be a reality one day later on; the world will be
really beautiful, bright and peaceful for all of us;
i pray in these twilight years;
i continue to dream of finding my way and that‟s why i exist even today!!

  1. Truth is false and false is true, a mixup of one and zero.
    The poem brings out the present problem which is amplified with social media.
