Why India and the World need a Yogic Course Correction?
by Chanakya Ganguly on July 4th, 2020 (American Independence Day)
Here are some of my thoughts on how the World can turn the tables with Yoga. It has been a
disaster diluting Yogic, Vedic, Ayurvedic psychology and education from mainstream education,
and trying to equate Indian with Modern liberalism and religion to social service like setting of
focusing on secular education and social work only. We have not been able to understand how
the Yogic and non-Yogic mind works. In that way, we could have prepared ourselves for
wars, riots, and disasters – secession, colonization, majority-minority conflicts, worldview.

Mexican Nobel Laureate, Octavio Paz, ambassador to India, noticed some of these things where
he says he was quite appalled by seeing the ignorance of the educated Indian to then own rich
and deep spiritual heritage of Yoga and self-realization. He noted religious organizations are
more political and are into social service. On the other hand, his understanding of Yogic
Wisdom changed his Leftist viewpoint he writes – In the Light of India. He saw in Yogic
spirituality a solution to the insanity and trauma in the psyche, which makes people repeat errors.

Modern education if not understood carefully traps people in comforts and conveniences. The
more our nervous system becomes sattvic (calm), and we move away from rajasic (aggressive)
and tamasic (lethargic), the efficiency of the body and mind increases, and the dependency on
the external environment decreases. After 2-3 years of Yogic Practice on realizes one’s spiritual
power. And thus, it begins the journey to balance the secular and sacred in building the psyche.

Because without Yogic education most human beings will either be weak or have evil tendencies
to dominate. Hence, it is better to be primitive and always be prepared for war. It is better to
make the body and mind super-efficient with Yoga with minimal resources for maximum
number of people. That way one can always know the mind of enemies and will also be able to
tackle poverty and social issues. Teaching this Mind Science is key in not being complacent.

Without Yoga, the brain and majority of the nerves do not work clearly for most people
https://www.artofliving.org/us-en/health-and-wellness/super-brain-yoga
That is why the year starts with Saraswati which is the Yogic power of the mind and ends with
Kali, reminding one to be prepared for kind as well as tough situations and gage levels around.
Since modern education has been designed by the Secular world, and they do not know Yogic
Science, hence, the final goal of education remains domination and hedonism. This has messed
up majority of people and nations. Buddhist countries also do not know much about Buddhism.
Cambodia produces Pol Pot. China, Thailand, Sri Lanka do not have that intense understanding
anymore. People fall for free-market capitalism or communism and undeterred development.

Unless majority of people make character development, raising one’s consciousness and gaining
Yogic enlightenment one of the main goals of Life, the situation will always remain miserable.
Role models can bring about this change in oneself and the world in an organized manner.
Since the modern world uses science and technology still for domination and hedonism, and not
necessarily for social and spiritual change, nations come up with these University rankings to
boost egos. Indian education in Nalanda and Taxila was for Mind Science, Yogic Inner
Development. This type of education should be introduced in Global Universities, and the World
should start Global Spiritual Ranking. Otherwise, reactionary approach does not really work.

This is also the only way to solve, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Tibet, China, Nepal,
Sri Lanka, Maldives, Fiji, Indonesia, Malaysia, and many global problems. The empire of no-mind should be the new goal that humanity needs to set for humanity. World needs to stop
getting these cheap goods from all over, get out of excess materialism and decadence, and bring
back the days when Fa-Hien came from China to learn Yoga, Buddhism, and Spirituality.

The management techniques from ancient India meant a king had to have Yogic Practice and
Enlightenment, to have a bottom-up hands-on connection with the needs, level, and capability of
the people. The goal of education and management was to provide resources for people to get
enlightened and display that through their work, skills, and capability. Such a king was called:
Raja (King) + Rishi (Sage), models of which are King Janaka, RaMa, Harishchandra, Bharat.

Today’s management is more connected to elitism. It is more of a mental status and lacks spiritual
grounding. That is why we have a lot of talks, products, and resources dedicated to things which
are not connected to physical, mental, spiritual well-being of people. One can be a managing a
company selling sugary drinks, tobacco, alcohol in plastic packages, bottles and cans. It may generate revenue, destroy the planet, create diseases. Does this provide any benefit at the end?

Yogic Development can make us introspect about a humanistic measure of Development

Wealth can be explored from the prism of value instead of price from the following dimensions.
1) Health 2) Relationship 3) Wisdom 4) Goodwill 5) Contentment 6) Blessings 7) Nature. As
Einstein said, “Not everything that counts can be counted & not everything that can be counted
counts”.  The Sanskrit word, Artha has two meanings — Money and Meaning. Money to find
Meaning in Life. It opens our imagination. Yoga is a gift to humanity, should be started early.
We need to put material progress, in the context of health and mental progress and stability.

The main thing is the education system has not figured out how the Yogic and non-Yogic mind
works (or does not work). And as humans, we have not come out with a strategy to empower
ourselves from an individual to a society to a nation to influence and transform the world.
That is why it is very important to track the spiritual progress worldwide, and take action
early on, or else be prepared for trouble. This is a lesson to bring in Yogic education very fast.

Yoga can help build effective Project Management Skills
https://blog.capterra.com/why-every-project-manager-should-try-yoga/
1. Set an intention – develop effective metrics 2. Keep the Big Picture in Mind – Need not
stubbornly focus on details 3. Breathe through change – Develop ability to think clearly under
stress 4. Take small steps to overcome difficulties – It is the underlying principle of Agile –
communication, work efficiency, collaboration, quality 5. Be Patient and Persistent for Clarity.

Yoga is a bottom-up approach like the Modern Agile Development Process

Markets will go up and down, along with businesses and jobs. But what will remain perennial for

humanity is Spiritual Progress with Yoga and Ayurveda, Diet, Classical Arts, Self-Discipline,
Mental Calmness. We can have the innovative Agile training for Creative Story Telling
combining Yoga and Meditation, to tune behavior, build a sustainable pace, design stories for
technical design, to focus on working product, interactions than documents. To build Capability
Maturity Model from chaos, process, managed, measured, optimized. It can also help build
Agility, Focused Stamina, Human Relationships, Communication Skills and Enlightenment.
