Mental Tour

Author: Kamal Acharyya | Posted on: 27th, Mar, 2025

Would you like to come with me
for a mental tour of a distant hill,
quite far away from the city,
floating in the vastness of clear blue sky,
on a white boat of autumn clouds,
to a destination really beautiful?

Traveling in the limitless expanse of space
in company of cloudy nymphs in dance and play,
covering the path with cool and pleasant shade
and raining wherever parched and dried!

The moon and north star will be
our companion, guiding us in the night,
listening closely to the stories of the old lady,
weaving with a white spinning wheel on the moon,
the night will pass waiting for the sun to rise!

This imaginary world gives me peace and solace
in warp and woof (tension) of daily life,
especially in these stressful days of pandemic
when there is nothing else that
we can do otherwise!

So i took you on a tour of fantasy,
while away for some time, evading reality,
with a promise to return to our old nest,
spending time like every other day,
with a faint lingering hope
to visit the country of Blue Hills someday!!

  2. Debu,

Although that lovely poetic fantasy was written in 2020 during COVID, we are experiencing a similar “warp and woof” today as well. We need to take mental trips away from those two W’s to maintain our sanity and hope for the future. Keep ’em coming, my friend.

    All the best,

    Rick
