Mrs. Bose and I recently went to a Panama Canal Cruise by Norwegian Cruise Line for 11 days. During this trip, we visited not only the historical Panama Canal but went around the countries of the Caribbean also. Those places are Colon in Panama, Puerto Limon in Costa Rica, Roar tan in Bay Island/Honduras, Belize, Costa Maya in Mexico.
Our cruise started from Miami and returned back there after 12 days. The ship sails at night but docks at the designated ports during the day to drop the passengers off to visit different cities in Central America. When we were passing through the Gatun Lake the ship stopped sailing, was stationary and did not move forward towards the Pacific Ocean.
Different kinds of food (including Indian dishes) were plentiful in the ship. There was a Chinese restaurant in the ship also, it was our favorite. Most of the people (5000 altogether) were wealthy people from the midwestern parts of the United States of America. There was only one Indian couple.
Varieties of activities were running throughout the day and night as well to entertain the passengers so they don’t get bored and feel monotonous. The ship had library, gym and racing track for the passengers so they can feel at home.
One day one of the passengers got very sick. They had to make an emergency stop by the nearest land,
immediately ambulatory help was called in and he was taken to the nearby hospital.
Panama Canal is one of the largest projects in the world and it is really wonderful. Panama is lying on the Equator; the weather was warm to hot. Green coconut water is one of my favorites and they grow there abundantly so I had the opportunity to taste them a whole lot.
History says that Christopher Columbus first landed in the Caribbean so the primary languages of all those colonies were Spanish for hundreds of years. Although they were economically depressed somewhat like India, and very nice people indeed.
Overall, our experience of this trip was quite exciting and exhilarating!
