Yoga, Ayurveda, Martial Arts, and Sports can help provide Holistic Education
by Chanakya Ganguly  for US Labor Day (on September 2nd, 2024)

Animals do not have the freedom to change their Consciousness. A tiger behaves in a
certain way, and so does a Deer. Humans have a choice to transform their inner nature
and character from Ravana to Rama or somewhere in between. That is how Dacoit
Ratnakar can become Sage Valmiki. But that needs restoration of the Yogic Ayurvedic
aspects of the Gurukul Education for Man Making and Character Building in Bengal, in
general in India, even globally,  as secular (mis)education has proven to be inadequate.

Reasons to have Yoga, Ayurveda, Martial Arts, and Sports in Education: 1) Understand levels
of Consciousness & its deeper connection with demonic and divine instincts, Character,
Concentration for Security 2) Understand Diet, Fasting, Lifestyle & its connection with
the three gunas, psycho-somatic nature of diseases for preventive and life-long care
3) Understand the epics & their connection with Rules, Restraint, Control, Spirit, Calm,
Clarity for creativity, critical thinking, rule of law, self-governance 4) Value personal
meditative space for self-reflection, and life-long learning than unplanned social interactions
5) Develop an athletic passion with an interest in healthy cooking, eating, Discipline,
Punctuality, Cleanliness, Physical, Mental, Emotional Firmness, avoiding complacency.
Have created an online blog on Yogic Transformation, Spiritual Self-Discipline, practical
political understanding, religious training, toughening the psyche, and holistic education

I write a lot of blogs on Yoga & its connection with Ayurveda, Ethics, Mind, Health,
Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, Gita, Ramayana, Mahabharata, US Constitution, mindset and
philosophies of leaders: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, John Adams, Tagore,
Ben Franklin, Plato, Lee Kuan Yew, Kapil Muni’s Samkhya Philosophy, Buddhism,
Sports, Art, Music, Literature, Sanskrit, Chants, Classical Music, Governance, Law,
Character, Concentration, Consciousness. Feel free to check & pass the same to others.

(“Good ministers are not just those who kiss babies”: Lee Kuan Yew)
Singapore is a real case study in understanding how Lee Kuan Yew put his Buddhist-
Taoist Spiritual Mindset, it’s connection with Human Nature and Motivation & put it
in his political party & leadership practice, to check what he says the metal in the man.

Whenever an incident occurs, most folks start saying make laws, punishment tough,
& rarely talk about Yogic Transformation to toughen people. Because the perpetrator
is unaware of his/her state of Consciousness & whether there are ways to improve the
same, and the victim is unprepared as well, as s/he has no understanding of the same.
Tough laws would probably make the perpetrator think of more clever ways of doing
the same. Closing this gap using a three-pronged approach: 1) Introducing Spiritual
Self-Discipline to show a path for Inner Change, 2) Introducing Self-Defense, Martial
Arts, Arms Training to be prepared, 3) Making use of Tech, Monitoring Tools to track
behavioral patterns can help create a safer society with healthier threat perception.
